Career OverviewThe production planner scheduler is responsible for moving the product through the processing cycle and getting approvals and necessary information about production between the various people that coordinate the production line. The production planner scheduler must be an extremely well organized individual that has ability to troubleshoot problems as well as identify and correct any potential issues before they become a problem.
When there is a difficulty with the production, packaging or distribution lines the production planner scheduler must work with the different parts of the line to determine how to meet orders and clear up any backlogs or backorders. Career RequirementsA production planner scheduler requires a Bachelors level education in a science, engineering or production type field. In addition they should have some hands-on experience in working in a production facility. Most production planner scheduler have worked at several different aspects of the production line and are very familiar with all aspects of the line although they will not have worked at each station or job.
The production planner scheduler should have a good knowledge of working with databases, collecting and disseminating information, preparing reports and keeping all parties informed of any changes in scheduling or production.
